Peter Day
1923 - 2011
President and Member
1947 - 2011

Peter was a valued member of Staplehurst Dramatic Society for over 60 years. In that time he has acted, directed and been an absolute stalwart in the general organisation of the society. He was always willing to help out wherever needed back stage, front of house, running errands, washing up etc, in every way much admired and loved. We will remember him as charming, witty and a person who had the knack of getting on with young and old alike.

We will miss his words of encouragement and (occasionally) praise and cherish all the fun we had as a group.

He had a wonderful sense of humour, at the height of the River Dance craze appearing on stage with a bare chest and a bandana pretending to be Michael Flatley, lounging elegantly in a nightie on a sun lounger in the garden as Sleeping Beauty at a Drama Society Party and sitting in a deck chair with his trousers rolled up and a knotted hanky on his head reading Marriott Edgars Monologue The Battle Of Hastings.

We will never forget what all his years of experience and interest have brought to our Society. On our 65th Anniversary Party in July we will raise a glass to toast our beloved and irreplaceable Peter, our President.
